Flora & Curl Gives Back

At Flora & Curl, our vision is to inspire confidence through clean and transparent haircare.

We care not only about creating natural and safe products, but also about making a positive difference in our world. In 2021, launched our giving back initiative: ‘1% to plant trees’ where we donate 1% of our net profit to make an impact in the world and our planet.

In 2023, we will continue working with WeForest to fund reforestation projects and contribute to support farmer livelihoods and bee-keeping.

Just by buying our plant-powered haircare products that are inspired by the beauty of nature, you are helping to care for this beautiful earth. It’s part of our own campaign for positive change. You buy, we give back. So thank you to every Flora & Curl customer – together we are making an impact.

WEFOREST

Helping to restore the trees and the ecosystem in the Copperbelt Forest in Zambia

In order to stay below a temperature rise of 2 degrees, we need to remove the excess carbon from our atmosphere. A simple nature-based solution exists. WeForest works with communities and local organisations around the world, to build scalable reforestation projects, support livelihoods and protect natural environments from erosion and degradation.

Flora & Curl's current project is supporting the reforestation efforts of WeForest in Zambia's deforestation hotspot in the Copperbelt.

Since 2011, WeForest has engaged hundreds of farmers in the Luanshya province regenerating over 2000ha through assisted natural regeneration. This programme is scaling up into 2 new districts with thousands more farmers and building more forest-friendly business like beekeeping. WeForest will monitor numbers of farmers, trees and hectares as well as beehives.

Since the start of our partnership in 2021, Flora & Curl has funded the growth of around 25,618 trees, which contribute to supporting farmer livelihoods and bee-keeping.

DAYS FOR GIRLS

Supporting women and girls in education with essential menstrual health care in Malawi

DFG increases access to menstrual care and education by developing global partnerships, cultivating social entrepreneurs and mobilizing volunteers to shatter stigma and limitations for women and girls.Days for Girls Kits are distributed and educational campaigns to increase access and knowledge about menstrual care.

The local DfG Malawi team recently headed out to the Neno district, in South Malawi - one of the most remote regions which meant they travelled by 4x4 cars and traversed treacherous roads to reach these remote villages.

In Malawi, combining the efforts of multiple donations, the DfG team reached 630 girls in 7 different schools with DfG washable pads and health education. Of the 630 school girls who received menstrual kits and vital health education, 140 were funded by Flora & Curl's donations. But what is even more remarkable is how these health conversations helped to empower girls to see that there are other opportunities ahead and role models that can help them see a different future.

With more support, Days for Girls' action plan is to reach 5,000 girls in some of the most remote villages in Malawi this year. Our funding has helped the team move closer to this goal!
